The cable is 1.8m (6 feet) long, appearance is okay, not regular. Warranty is usually of 1 year. The dongle is to connect the keyboard using 2.4G media. 2 different colors’ additional keycaps (a few) are given in the package.

First Impression You Will Get

The Fantech MAXFIT67 mechanical keyboard is a clean-designed 67-key keyboard. The build quality will attract you. The volume knob is made out of aluminum and feels great to rotate. Keycabs will make you happy, the color combination is good. The south-facing gateron socket design of MAXFIT67 allows it to be used with the majority of keycaps of the market. The dye sub-PBT keycaps will give you a premium feel. You won’t be disappointed with the keyboard.

Build Quality

The Fantech MAXFIT67 keyboard comes in a sleek black variant, featuring gray keycaps with black dye-sublimed legends. This creates an appealing two-tone color scheme that comes as the default option. Crafted from ABS plastic, the keyboard’s casing strikes a balance between durability and portability due to its compact form factor.

The lightweight design adds to its ease of transport. The typing experience remains comfortable, and a notable touch is the attention given to the integrated case elevation, a feature often overlooked. The bezels surrounding the keyboard are consistently sized, without any noticeable branding except for the product name discreetly placed on the side facing away from the user. This understated aesthetic is maintained by the keycaps, which sport secondary legends above the primary ones. Despite the keycaps being opaque, all the legends are positioned on the left and biased towards the top. It might have been preferable to have larger, centrally located legends for better visibility, extending beyond just the modifier keys. The keyboard is equipped with anti-ghosting properties.

Flipping the keyboard over, you’ll find the familiar certification sticker positioned at the center. Additionally, there are five textured rubber pads placed strategically on both the top and bottom sides. These pads serve a dual purpose: they provide friction to keep the keyboard in place on your resting surface and prevent any potential scratches to the case.

The keyboard’s case design includes two sets of feet that offer an optional elevation increase. This results in a total of three different height adjustments, an impressive range for a compact keyboard. Keys and Switches

The keyboard features low-height, contoured Cherry profile keycaps arranged in five rows. The MAXFIT67 offers a choice between Kailh Box White and Gateron Milky Yellow switches. Due to the high-profile case construction, these keycaps do not have a floating design, as the case consists of two pieces.

It equipped with Gateron switches, which come pre-lubricated from the factory. Out of the box, they exhibit a solid feel and sound, with a minor enhancement noticed upon applying additional lubrication—although this preference may vary. Interestingly, applying films to the switches yielded no noticeable improvement, making it potentially unnecessary. These keycaps are opaque, indicating that any LEDs present will result in side or accent lighting.

As already said, the keyboard is equipped with Gateron Milky Yellow and Kailh BOX White. However, it’s important to mention that these are previous-generation switches that have been succeeded by newer versions—the Gateron Pro Yellow 2.0 and Kailh White BOX 2.0. In this review, you’ll find the Gateron Milky Yellow switches evaluated. Notably, these switches are predominantly installed on a south-facing PCB, meaning the LEDs are positioned at the bottom. This layout choice enhances compatibility with low-profile keycaps, such as the default Cherry profile keycaps. Enthusiasts will appreciate this feature, along with the use of lubed plate-mounted stabilizers. It’s pointed out, though, that screw-in stabilizers would have been a welcomed addition, along with less pre-applied lube.

As implied by the keyboard’s name, it boasts hot-swap switch sockets compatible with 5-pin switches. The included switch remover tool facilitates a closer inspection of the socket, the associated SMD RGB LED, and the Gateron Milky Yellow switch itself. Notably, the space bar key incorporates a north-facing LED to accommodate the slider switch on the back. Fortunately, this layout choice doesn’t affect keycap compatibility due to ample spacing.

The Gateron Milky Yellow switch is akin to the Gateron Yellow switch, featuring the same yellow crosspoint stem visible externally. The term “milky” refers to the translucent housing with an exterior designed to diffuse LED lighting. This 3-pin switch design is swappable to any mechanical switch adhering to the Cherry MX style. It has a lifetime of 60 million keystrokes.

A prominent volume knob graces the top-right corner, strategically positioned for swift in-the-moment volume adjustments.
